Leadership for Excellence Initiative

LAPDA is very pleased to announce our new initiative entitled “Leadership for Excellence” which will provide school leaders with high quality professional development and research support to help you increase student engagement, improve student learning and create learning organizations that will sustain a spirit of continuous improvement.

The diagram below depicts the structure of the Leadership Initiative. The outer ring contains additional resources for key leadership focus areas (Leadership Legacy, Theory of Systems Change, Results-Oriented Leadership and Organizational Development) designed to enhance your school improvement efforts. Click on the links below to access these resources.

The workshops depicted as white diamonds within the yellow circle represent our first coordinated series of training opportunities, which are designed for system level leaders as well as building level leaders. These workshops include The Three Minute Classroom Walk-Through, Common Formative Assessment, Polarity Management and Data-Driven Decision Making (upon request).

The Principal’s Toolkit Workshop Series offers five stand-alone workshops addressing “What to look for in the results-oriented classroom”. The focus areas include reading, writing, science, math, and differentiated instruction. Elementary/middle principals may also participate in a “Principal’s Cohort Group”. The Cohort Group will acquire new skills and specific strategies across the five focus areas and the colleagueship you will gain as part of this group will support your implementation efforts. The series will run from October 15, 2007 to April 14, 2008.
