About the Instructor
Dr. Brad Witzel, Associate Professor and Coordinator of Special Education at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Brad is one of the authors of the Institute of Education Sciences Practice Guide, “Assisting Students Struggling with Mathematics: Response to Intervention (RTI) for Elementary and Middle Schools.”
Dr. Witzel has given numerous professional presentations including strategic math, algebra instruction, word problem solving, parent involvement, and motivational classroom management. He has published research and practitioner articles in algebra and math education as well as positive behavior interventions for students with and without learning disabilities.
He has also written several books and book chapters on mathematics education and interventions. Overall, he is concerned with the development of special education teachers and works to provide researched validated practices and interventions to professionals and pre-professionals. Over the past year Brad has conducted webinars for Vermont educators on RTI Math and is familiar with the work of several Vermont schools.
