Implementation support for Cognitive Coaching Pre-requisite Foundation Days 1-4 information
As we all try to implement what we learned in our Cognitive Coaching training, opportunities to practice and get feedback appear to be the universal challenge. To try to energize a cadre of folks from Vermont to continue developing their skills as cognitive coaches, we are interested in hosting a community of learners committed to improving coaching skills and building the capacity of our individual systems to increase self-directedness.
Our first meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 12th, from 5PM to 7PM at Thatcher Brook Primary School in Waterbury. We’d like to schedule once a month meetings after that. October 10th, November 14th and December 12th have been tentatively scheduled for subsequent meetings times, but can be changed to meet the needs of the group.
At the September meeting we will:
Susette Bollard has been in education for 28 years serving as a teacher, principal, Director of Curriculum and Professional Development and now Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction at Orange North Supervisory Union. She is committed to schools working as professional learning communities to do whatever it takes to ensure the success of all students. Part of her responsibilities over the years has included mentoring/coaching teachers and principals. She began her training in Cognitive Coaching in 2005 and plans to complete the requirements to become a Training Associate for the Center for Cognitive Coaching by the summer of 2008.
Riki French has been Principal of Morristown Elementary School for the past 13 years. She has been in the field of education as a teacher, special educator and coordinator of support services for the past 32 years. She enjoys working with parents, faculty and community members to ensure educational experiences for children are relevant and rigorous, and believes that professional development for adults is critical as schools prepare children for the challenges of the 21st century. Riki was trained in Cognitive Coaching along with a team of teachers from her school and utilizes it in her daily practice. She is interested in continuing her professional development in this area.
